The Power of a Circle

We live in a box, we eat from a box, we watch a box, we talk to a box, we drive in a box, we work in a box and then come home to our box again. We do it day after day after day. Now while no one is looking, ask yourself this question. Are you satisfied? Seriously. Are you honestly as great as your Facebook page makes you out to be? I mean c'mon, do you even know all the people that subscribe to you as a "friend?"

So what is it about all this reaching and never being satisfied that amuses us so much? What is it that is so addicting to us human beings? Why do we do it? Can we stop? Should we stop? Maybe this is just our evolution?

So what would make your life more meaningful? What would give you that feeling you had when you first discovered love? Ah, that was a great feeling, wasn't it? Remember your first real kiss? Do you remember the sparks that you felt? Yes, that was nice. Can that ever be captured again? Is it even right to be searching for it? If we captured that feeling somehow, would it give us a new purpose?

Has anyone else noticed how Africa, or anyone of the poorest nations in the world- seems to be joyful despite the incredible pain and poverty it endures? I mean in the midst of starvation they still have these great smiles that are as bright as the sun? I as American envy that I think they are beautiful. Am I alone? They have no box. They certainly don't eat from one. No. They live in a circle. They watch in a circle. They talk in a circle. They walk and dance in a circle. They work side by side in a circle and then they come home to their circle and do it all over and over again day after day. They have no cell phone, no TV, no car, no job, some no house, just a circular hut- if even that. Is it fulfilling? They look happy. Maybe they have the real secret to "success?"

So, let us get back to this circle idea. Is there something magical about a circle? Maybe we need to put more circles in our homes and businesses? Maybe that would bring back the connectivity we are all starving for? Could you use a circle in your life? Maybe it could start at a round table at night with food on it and your favorite people? Or maybe fill it with food and invite people that have no circle? What will you do with your circle?
